Four tiers. Two generations. One kitchen that never really closes.

Cut into it

Layer 01 — The beginning

It started because she would not sit still

In 2019 Nthambeleni Mulaudzi lost her job. She did not want to sit down and be stressed — she wanted to keep her mind busy. She had always loved baking and had never had the time for it. Suddenly time was the one thing she had.

She baked for her family. Then a friend asked her to bake for them, and offered to pay. That was the whole beginning of it.

When Covid took her mother’s job too, she asked her mother to help in the kitchen. Her mother has not left it since.

“It’s the only place she wants to be. She’s so passionate about it — she loves baking.”

Layer 02 — Celebration

Cakes built to hold a room

Wedding cakes that carry their own weight across four tiers, and birthday cakes that get photographed before anyone is allowed to touch them.

Every cake is built to order around the day it belongs to — the flavours, the height, the sugar work. Nothing comes off a shelf.

  • WeddingTwo to five tiers, sugar flowers, tasting before you commit
  • BirthdaySingle tier to towering, sculpted or classic
  • AnniversaryQuieter, richer, usually chocolate

Layer 03 — The small things

The scones are the quiet legend

So fluffy they barely hold together, and deliberately less sweet — because a scone is supposed to leave room for what you put on it.

  • SconesFluffy, less sweet, sold faster than they cool
  • CupcakesBy the dozen, iced to match the cake
  • Jam tartsShort pastry, proper jam
  • SnowballsCoconut, jam, and no restraint

Layer 04 — Occasions

Boardrooms, birthdays, and the days without a name

Corporate orders for launches, staff days and client gifting — branded, boxed and delivered on time, at whatever quantity the room needs.

And the rest: baptisms, graduations, funerals, apologies, Tuesdays. Cakes for all occasions means all of them.

The work

Baked, not rendered

Every cake below is one that left this kitchen for somebody’s actual day. Follow the daily work on Instagram, where the cakes appear long before they appear here.

Order

Tell us about the day

Orders are taken on WhatsApp, one conversation at a time. Send a message with what you have in mind and Nthambeleni will come back to you with a quote and a date.

Weddings and large orders are best booked a few weeks ahead. Small bakes need less notice.

What to send in the first message

  1. 01The date. And whether it can move.
  2. 02The occasion. Wedding, birthday, corporate, other.
  3. 03How many people it needs to feed.
  4. 04Flavours you love, and anything you cannot eat.
  5. 05A picture of a cake you like, if you have one.
